Emotional intelligence -- sometimes abbreviated "EQ" or "EI" -- is a
foundational skill set that assists in most areas of human interaction.
Fourteen years and going strong, EQ is not a "fad" or
"flavor of the month" -- in fact, the movement is gaining
momentum worldwide. The Harvard Business Review's 1995 article on the
subject remains their most request reprint in history.
Emotional Intelligence -- A half day workshop led by Weber Associates trainers in which
participants will learn:
- What emotional intelligence is and why it is so important for personal and professional success.
- The recognition and understanding of the competencies which build on each other to raise an individual's EQ level:
- Self-Awareness
- Self-Regulation
- Self-Motivation
- Empathy
- Effective Relationships
- How to listen and employ their emotions for better decision making.
- To be more intentional in their actions.
- To show they care and build trust by displaying sensitivity and concern.
- About using their energy and enthusiasm to motivate others while tempering negative responses to distressing situations.
This workshop is presented with a self-assessment tool. New skills are learned and practiced through video clips, discussions and group activities.
UCLA research indicates that only 7% of leadership success is attributable to intellect; 93% of success comes from trust, integrity, authenticity, honesty, creativity, presence, and resilience (cited in Cooper and Sawaf, 1996).
Students who believe their teachers support and care about them are more engaged with their work (Skinner and Belmont, 1993); they value their work more, and have higher academic goals (Goodnow, 1993, cited in Frey 1999).
85-95% of the difference between a "good leader" and an "excellent leader" is due to emotional intelligence (Goleman, 1998).
