Purpose and Values
Participants are exposed to the importance of shared values and a common purpose. The difference between values, vision purpose and strategic plans are examined. We discuss how values drive commitment which drives discretionary effort which drives service which results in higher levels of student learning.
Building a Collaborative Culture
This section focuses on building teams that work interactively with other teams in the school to focus on the common goal of student learning. Team norms are discussed as the platform for decision making and actions. SMART goals are examined as a format for establishing objectives and accountability.
Empowerment and Leadership
The focus here is using the different systems of the organization to effectively build action that achieve results. Those systems are accountability, information, feedback, training, and recognition. Participants will be asked to analyze the systems of intervention in their own schools to determine where improvements can be made and whether those systems enhance or inhibit progress.
Rewards and Recognition
Here we examine how progress is recognized whether team or an individual or the entire school. It covers the importance of recognition that progress is being made not just at the end of the year not on a continuous basis. It also covers the various feedback mechanisms to show how proper feedback can enhance achievement. All modules can use various training instruments such as group/team exercises, video and discussion.
